North Central States

Hub City Livestock Auction - Aberdeen SD

Compared to last week: yearling steers not well compared. Best test on yearling heifers 900 to 949 lbs 15.00 to 20.00 higher. No good comparisons on spring calves. Very good demand for yearlings today with those coming off grass seeing the best demand. 

 

Bassett Livestock Auction - Bassett NE

A limited number of comparable offerings from last week with 900 lb steers trading steady. A large crowd on hand and several buyers for the first show of non-weaned calves. Demand was very good with active internet bidding.

 

Huss Livestock Market - Kearney NE

Compared to last week steer and heifer calves sold sharply higher and yearling heifers sold 10.00 to 15.00 higher with no comparable offerings for the yearling steers. Demand was good to very good from the buyers in the crowd and on the internet.

OKC West - El Reno OK

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 6.00-12.00 higher. Feeder heifers over 750lbs 5.00-8.00 higher, under 750lbs 11.00-15.00 higher. Quality was not a determining factor in pricing 8 weight steers. Demand remained strong across all classes of cattle. Steer calves 10.00-20.00 higher with spots up to 30.00 higher. Heifer calves 15.00-25.00 higher with spots up to 40.00 higher. Calf quality average.

 

Clovis Livestock Auction - Clovis, NM

Compared to last weeks sale; Steer calves 350-600 sold 7.00-19.00 higher. Feeder steers 600-700 lbs were 7.00-16.00 higher while 700-750 lbs sold 5.00 lower and 800-850 lbs were 4.00 higher. Heifer calves 300-450 lbs sold 5.00-20.00 higher and 450-600 lbs were 18.00-27.00 higher. Feeder heifers 600-650 lbs sold 4.00 higher and 650-700 lbs were 5.00 lower while 700-750 lbs sold sharply higher. Trade was very active on larger numbers with very good demand.

 

Winter Livestock - Dodge City, KS

Compared to last week's lighter run where calves were more lightly tested, steer and heifer calves sold with a higher to sharply higher undertone. Yearling steers sold steady to 10.00 higher while yearling heifers sold 15.00 to 20.00 higher. Feeder cattle futures have made significant gains since last week, leading the charge higher along with a higher cash fed trade last week. Demand was good to very good. Slaughter cows sold steady to weak.

 

Midwest States

Bloomfield Livestock Market - Bloomfield, IA

Compared to the sale two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold with a higher undertone though not well compared. Demand was very good today and included active internet bidding. Supply was heavy and included many yearling load lots. 

 

Springfield Livestock Auction - Springfield MO

Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700lbs sold mostly 6.00 to 12.00 higher with spots up to 20.00 higher, and steers and heifers over 700lbs sold with a firm undertone based on limited comparisons. This week's offering included some high quality groups of weaned and vaccinated calves and yearlings that created very good demand on a moderate supply.
