Billings Livestock Commission Cattle Auction - Billings, MT

Compared to last sale (2-05-26): Feeder sold generally steady to 5.00 higher on all weight classes. Feeder heifers under 500 lbs sold mostly 5.00-10.00 higher, all other weights of heifers sold generally steady, with the exception of 600-649 lbs heifers which sold mostly 3.00-5.00 higher. Demand for all feeder cattle was good to very good on moderate offerings. Quality this week was mostly average to very attractive with many home raised offerings seen.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 650 lbs. and up sold 2.00-6.00 higher. Feeder heifers 600 lbs. and up sold 2.00-7.00 higher. Demand was real good. Many large load lots in todays offering. Some of the feeders were caring extra flesh with the mild winter so far.

Compared to last week: Prices seemed to have their ups and downs, largely due to the quality of cattle available. There were few comparable sales on both calves and feeders to determine a trend but, sentiment remained positive. Trade was active on good demand. Slaughter cattle were mostly lower on a limited offering of better quality cows. However, higher yielding beef type cattle brought almost 5.00 higher.
