Billings Livestock Commission Cattle Auction - Billings, MT

Compared to last sale (5-07-26): Feeder cattle were all too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Quality this week was mostly plain. A few limited offerings of attractive heifers were seen. Demand was mostly moderate to good for light offerings. Most offerings were offered in small groups or as singles. Quality limited demand this sale. A small crowd was on hand for todays sale. Market activity was mostly moderate. Weigh up cows sold on good to very good demand.

Valentine Livestock Auction - Valentine NE

Today's auction started and finished the day with weigh ups. Many offerings, at the sale today, due to the very dry conditions in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Out of state internet buyers taking advantage of the variety of offerings. Baby calves off the cow, choice in ring, brought high of $1850. Pairs all in good condition tagged to match and vaccinated, bred cow and heifers calving now to June, and Fall bred offerings calving Aug to Sept.

 

South Central:

Apache Livestock Auction - Apache, OK

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and feeder heifers 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Steer calves under 400 lbs. significantly higher, over 400 lbs. 5.00 to 10.00 lower. Heifer calves lightly tested. Quality good to attractive with good demand. Slaughter cows steady to 4.00 lower. Slaughter bulls steady. A total of 436 cows and bulls sold with 61 percent going to packers.

 

Woodward Wtd Avg Cattle - Woodward OK

Compared to last week: Steers were steady to 5.00 higher with a good quality and high demand. Heifers were steady with instances of 7.00 lower. Steer calves under 500 lbs. were to light to test. Steer calves over 500 lbs. steady to 5.00 higher. Heifer calves under 550 lbs. to light to test. Heifer calves over 550 lbs. were steady both with a light to moderate demand.

 

Winter Livestock Auction - Pratt KS

Compared to last week, feeder steers 650 lb to 1,000 lb sold 8.00 to 20.00 higher. Not enough steers under 600 lb for a market test. Feeder heifers 775 lb to 925 lb sold steady to 2.00 lower, however one partial load of fancy heifers weighing 835 lb sold 4.00 higher. Heifers 550 lb to 775 lb sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Not enough heifers under 550 lb for a market test. Demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 higher.

 

Farmers & Ranchers Livestock - Salina KS

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold mostly higher 5.00 to 15.00 with the exception of 600 lb steers selling 5.00 lower. Heifers 500 lb to 750 lb sold steady to 5.00 higher. Heifers over 750 lb and under 450 lb not enough for market test. Demand was good for a moderate supply.

 

Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart TX

Compared to last week: There were few comparable sales to state a trend with exception of 775 lb steers which sold $12 higher. Some lighter calves pushed the $2000/ hd mark this week, possibly setting a record. Heifers, on the other hand, exhibited a lower undertone on slow demand. Slaughter cattle pushed higher this week, with average and high yielding cows 9.00-13.00 higher and bulls up 11.00. Much of the turnout was dry beef cows and cull bulls.

Compared to last Thursday, stocker and feeder cattle firm on an increase in the offerings and quality. Feeder cattle futures posted $1.20 to $2.92 losses on Thursday. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was up 9 cents to $373.23 on May 13. Slaughter cows 2.00-5.00 lower. Best demand for turnout feeder cows. Slaughter bulls firm. Trade active with good demand.
