North Central:

Billings Livestock Commission Cattle Auction - Billings, MT

Compared to last sale (4-30-26): Feeder cattle were all too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Quality this week was mostly plain to average. Demand was moderate to good for light offerings. Quality limited demand today as many ranchers and backgrounders cleaned up pens and pastures. Many lame and blemished offerings were seen this sale. Most feeders were offered in small groups or as singles with no load lots seen.

 

Mitchell Livestock Auction – Mitchell SD

Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers 10.00 to 15.00 higher, instances to 20.00 higher. Feeder heifers mostly steady, except 700-750 lbs and 850-900 lbs 10.00 higher. Very good demand for this large offering of backgrounded yearlings and weaned fall calves. The market was very active as reports of cash fed cattle came in at 260.00 this week. Quality was very attractive throughout the offering, however flesh on the yearlings varied greatly, from light and just right, to very heavy fleshed.

 

Valentine Livestock Auction - Valentine NE

No recent test of market for an accurate comparison a trend will not be given for steers or heifers. However, a higher undertone was noted on most weights. Demand was very good with several buyers and active internet bidding. Most cattle sold in light flesh with weigh-up in the buyers favor. Several consignments in town due to loss of pasture grass from recent fires and the lingering drought across the trade area. 

 

South Central:

Apache Livestock Auction - Apache, OK

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and feeder heifers unevenly steady. Steer calves 4.00 to 8.00 higher. Heifer calves steady. Quality fair to attractive with good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls steady to 3.00 higher. A total of 184 cows and bulls sold with 44 percent going to packers.

 

Woodward Wtd Avg Cattle - Woodward OK

Compared to last week: Steers were 7.00 lower. Heifers were 2.00 lower both had an average to good quality and a good demand. Steer calves were to light to test but did show a low undertone. Heifer calves were 3.00 lower with a good quality and demand.

 

Winter Livestock Auction - Pratt KS

Compared to last week, feeder steers 650 lb to 1,000 lb sold 6.00 to 12.00 lower. Feeder heifers 600 lb to 975 lb sold 4.00 to 12.00 lower, with front end heifers selling close to steady. Not enough steers and heifers under 600 lb for a market test. Approximately 1100 head of the feeder run weighed over 1,000 lb. Demand was moderate. Slaughter cows sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady.

 

Farmers & Ranchers Livestock - Salina KS

Compared to last week, steers sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower, while heifers sold steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for a heavy supply of mostly grass-weight cattle.

 

Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart TX

Compared to last week: There were few comparable sales on feeders to determine a trend but there was a definite softer undertone noted. Highest demand was toward 800 lb steers and heifers coming off of short wheat. Other trade was moderate, commiserate with the quality offered. Slaughter cows and bulls remained mostly steady.

 

Producers Livestock Cattle Auction - San Angelo, TX

Compared to last week, feeder cattle overall sold 3.00 to 8.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold uneven; lean and boner sold steady to 1.00 higher, while breaker sold 1.00 to 2.00 lower. Slaughter bulls were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend however higher undertones were noted.

 

Midwest: 

New Cambria Livestock Market - New Cambria, MO

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly 5.00 to 15.00 higher with a little weakness detected in some light grazing steers where the top end price just didn't quite reach last week's highs. Slaughter cows steady to 5.00 higher. Three load lots of backgrounded cattle made up a fair portion of the offering, with some particularly whippy trade for the loads of yearling heifers. 

 

Southeast:

Bluegrass Stockyards South - Stanford KY

Compared to last Thursday: Feeder and yearling steers steady to 3.00 higher except 900-1000 lbs they were 2.00-4.00 lower, Feeder and yearling heifers 3.00-5.00 higher, Good demand for feeder and yearling classes. Slaughter cows and bulls steady, Good demand for slaughter classes.

 

Paris Stockyards - Paris KY

Compared to last Thursday feeder steers sold steady to 2.00 higher. Feeder heifers sold mostly steady. There was good demand for feeder classes. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 1.00 to 300 higher. There was good demand for slaughter classes.

 

Western:

Toppenish Livestock Auction - Toppenish, WA

Compared to last Thursday, stocker and feeder cattle steady in a light test. Feeder cattle futures were down $6.07 to $6.87 on the day.  Slaughter cows steady to 8.00 higher. Slaughter bulls weak. Trade active with good demand.
