North Central:

Billings Livestock Commission Cattle Auction - Billings, MT

Compared to last sale (5-14-26): Feeder cattle were all too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Quality this week was mostly plain with many blemished cattle in the offering. Very few reportable cattle sold today as a result. Demand was mostly moderate to good for light offerings. Most offerings were offered in small groups or as singles.

 

Mitchell Livestock Auction – Mitchell SD

Compared to two weeks ago: Not enough steers or heifer to give true a comparison today in all class's. A lower undertone was noted on both steers and heifers. Demand was good. Quality was fair compared to two weeks ago.

Apache Livestock Auction - Apache, OK

Compared to last week: Feeder steers not enough comparable cattle for a market test. Feeder heifers 5.00 to 15.00 lower. Steer calves and heifer calves mostly 10.00 to 20.00 lower. Quality fair to average with moderate demand. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Slaughter bulls 3.00 higher. A total of 399 cows and bulls sold with 53 percent going to packers. 

 

Woodward Wtd Avg Cattle - Woodward OK

Compared to last week: Steers were 5.00 to 9.00 lower. Heifers were 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Both had a moderate demand with an average quality. Steer and heifer calves were to light to test with few receipts.

 

Winter Livestock Auction - Pratt KS

Compared to last week, feeder steers 700 lb to 975 lb sold 2.00 to 12.00 lower. Not enough steers under 700 lb for a market test. Feeder heifers 450 lb to 950 lb sold 6.00 to 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher.

 

Farmers & Ranchers Livestock - Salina KS

Compared to last week, feeders steers over 500 lbs sold 5.00 to 15.00 lower with the exception of 850 lb steers selling steady to 5.00 higher. Under 500 lbs not enough for market test. Heifers under 700 lbs not enough for market test, heifers over 700 lbs sold 3.00 to 12.00 lower. Demand was good for a good supply of heavy weight calves.

 

Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart TX

Compared to last week: The market seemed to turn softer this week, particularly steer calves weighing up to 650. Heifers seemed to fare better, but there were too few comparable sales to determine a trend. Quality seemed to be plainer as drought conditions persist in the area. Slaughter cattle reporting was shorter this week, but the market fared positive on high yielding cows and bulls. A large supply of dries and late calvers were brought in off of droughty and burned out country. 

 

Producers Livestock Cattle Auction - San Angelo, TX

Compared to last week, feeder cattle overall sold steady to 4.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher. 

 

Midwest: 

New Cambria Livestock Market - New Cambria, MO

Compared to the last sale two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold mostly 15.00 to 20.00 lower, few spots sharply lower, however a few weights managed to tack on a couple dollars, mostly midweight grass steers in the right condition. Slaughter cows 3.00 to 8.00 higher. Good quality on offer this week with most in pretty good condition to go to grass although several were still packing some hair. 

 

Southeast:

Bluegrass Stockyards South - Stanford KY

Compared to last Thursday: Feeder steers under 800 lbs steady, over 800 lbs 3.00-5.00 lower, Feeder and yearling heifers mostly steady, Good demand for feeder and yearling classes. Slaughter cows and bulls 4.00-6.00 higher, Good demand for slaughter classes.

 

Paris Stockyards - Paris KY

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold unevenly steady, with 500-600lbs steers steady to up 2.00. Feeder heifers were steady, with 500- 700 lbs heifers up 3.00-4.00. Very good demand for all feeder classes and buyer demand. Slaughter cows were steady to down 2.00, slaughter bulls were steady to up 2.00-3.00.

 

Western:

Toppenish Livestock Auction - Toppenish, WA

Compared to last Thursday, stocker and feeder cattle weak in a light test. Feeder cattle futures were down $1.60 in the expiring May contract, with the rest of the board down $8.75 to the $9.25 limit. Feeders will have expanded limits of $13.75 on Friday, with expanded live cattle limits of $10.75. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was down $1.72 to $370.72 on May 20. Slaughter cows 3.00-8.00 higher. Slaughter bulls firm. Trade active with good demand.
